Summer Day Camp
The big picture: The place to be in the summer is the north side of the city and camp at UIF! Urban Impact offers an eight-week day camp that focuses on limiting academic regression in math and reading skills over the summer months. This is an awesome opportunity to win children to Christ, help them grow in faith and grow into Christian leaders in their communities. Urban Impact would like to thank the Grable Foundation for its generous support of Summer Day Camp 2012.
" I learned from literacy about endings, sounds, context clues, and how to go back in the text. So reading is good, but I like math better.” Saige, grade 6
Who can attend: Space is available for 132 students entering grades 1-6
Program activities: Breakfast, lunch, arts & crafts, and field trips! Past field trips have included museum visits, Pirates games, and rides on the North Park. Between math and reading enrichment and Bible study sessions, kids learn valuable social skills and form new, lasting friendships. One leader for every six campers means many students show significant improvement over the summer.
Camp fast facts:
- 75% of our campers returned in 2012.

A Day at Camp
Before camp begins, camp staff assess campers' math and reading
skills. These scores are used to place campers in groups with
instruction focused at their level.
A morning at camp includes breakfast, Christian education/worship,
and math and reading. During the afternoon, children participate in swimming, arts, crafts and games.
Field trips include visits to places like the Children's Museum,
The Aviary, and Turnbull Lake.
