Leadership Development
Taking Our Mission into the Future
Urban Impact cannot change Pittsburgh in one lifetime. This means we need to equip leaders who will carry on the vision to meet our long-term goals. Through a series of conferences, internships, intensified mentoring, and hands-on experiences in community development, we build leaders who can take Urban Impact’s mission into the future.

What is The Great Commission?
In Matthew chapter 28, God commissioned his people to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This is Christ’s Great Commission, and Urban Impact believes we can start to fulfill it here at home.
Urban Impact Experience
The big picture: Urban Impact Experience is a week-long urban missions event where middle and high school students learn, on a small scale, what it’s like to commit to urban ministry.
Program activities: Each day focuses on a different theme which may include education, economics, justice, entertainment, and healthcare that will challenge stereotypes. Participants learn from urban ministry workers what it means to address the needs of the urban poor through holistic, missional approaches. Working alongside Urban Impact staff and leaders in the community, the participants do hands-on projects to meet people’s needs in the inner city. The goal is to allow youth to recognize the needs of the inner city and to help them in the discernment process of whether they are called to be leaders in this environment.
Time commitment: 1 week
Cost: $395 per person by January 31, 2009 - $445 per person after January 31, 2009.
Event date: July 12-18, 2009
